I was just reading some threads on the selfdefense.com forum, and I found that knife fighting techniques:

One man against a knife attack. I do not like that technique, and I think that the man who is demonstrating, will never do thatin a real situation.

You will face that man and his knife, only if you don't have the choice, or someone is with you, and you can't run and let him/her die...

However, in this case, use your environment first, you do not want to be in an inferior position: Hands against knife is an inferior position.

You want to use anything near you that can help you to get rid of that maniac.

A Pepper Spray (oleoresin capsicum (OC))is a must have, for people who are not strong enough, or don't know what to do if they are attacked.

When I was working with the Baffalos, all of us had a pepper spray. It was just behind the door, and we would use it only in extreme urgence, because we prefer the hand to hand combat first.

Actually, we nwever used our pepper spray while working.

How does the Pepper spray work?

A pepper spray is a lachrymatory agent, a chemical component which will cause an intense sensation of burning in your aggressor eye, skin and his eyes will slam shut immediately.

His nose and throat will be affected too, and he will have difficulty to breath.

How do you use the Pepper spray?

You must profit from the surprise effect, because that aggressor feels that he will get you(or what he wants from you easily). At the last moment, when you feel it's time (he is close to you), just spray it directly into your opponent eyes.

He may have difficulties to see (anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes, according to the power of the spray), so you can escape, or conter attack. However, some people under the effects of Drugs or Alcohol will not be affected.

I have been sprayed several times, and at a certain point, it doesn't affect you too much. However, if the spray is powerful enough, you can't see anything. When it happened to me, in some cases I couldn't see any thing during 5 to 10 minutes... It can be fatal.

When you spray one time, you must act very fast, because the second time will not be effective like the first time. It happened to me, I've been spray one time, then a second. The first was hard, but the second was a joke, and I was happy that it had only a very small effect.

You must better know what to do, because the man you sprayed will not be happy after he recover, and once he is ableto see something, i don't think he will love you more than before...
