My Buddy is going to the UFC and some Self Defense Weapons

I met check, my ex-sparring. We use to train together at the Charles Joussot Silat circle. I tell you, it was a ultra hard training man.

Many people use to sign up for the year, and quit after day. I didn't see check for 5 years now!

Do you want to know how I met him again? I met him on msn messenger by mistake! Long time ago, I send him a letter asking him for his email address, and he added me to his msn list of contacts.

I saw his nickname many time, but I never clicked on it because I didn't know it was his nickname. I bought a new laptop, and I don't know why, but the touchpad became crazy, and the mouse started to move like mad... and it clicked on the pop up box that load when you open messenger.

One minute later he send me a message telling me: It's cheick!

I hope we will train again soon together. It will be difficult because he is in France, and he is going to florida soon. But we will figure out how to.

That's all.

P.S: I just wanted to let you know one of my pair's seld defense site: Check it here: Self Defense Weapons .

Talk to you soon guys.

Knife Fighting Techniques videos... Is it for real?

I always laugh when I see knife fighting techniques demonstration on youtube video, Google or yahoo.

If you have any experience in the street, you know that there is something wrong with all these knife fighting techniques videos.

Don't be fooled by them, and don't even try the techniques if you don't want problems. The best and unequaled knife fighting technique is to run like a mad. Another one is just to walk away slowly.

I know what I am talking about, and everyone who try to say something else is a liar. So be care ful, and protect ya neck!

If someone has a knife, and you are not sure, or don't have a pepper spray with you or something else that will be able to get rid of this knife, GO AWAY. period. If you don't follow this advice, you will suffer.

I've just find an interesting article about Knife Fighting Techniques

Feel free to browse the website as well, there is good stuff there. Marc MacYoung is also selling many products. I don't have a clue about those products: are they good? I don't know. What I am sure is that his site is really good man.

If I find something good about knife figthing techniques, I'll let you know.

Take care guys.

P.S: I have an interesting story, and videos to share with you soon. Stay tuned...

My Favorite Self Defense Weapons

I have two favorites self defense weapons:

1) Tanto
2) Nunchaku

I had a beautiful picture of my Black Tanto (dague, knife). If you don't know what is a Tanto, it was the small knife used by the samurai (the third one).

It has a special use: The samurai was using it only one time!

Actually, the samurai used to make himself HARAKIRI (he stabs himself by hitting the lower abdomen with the tanto) when his honour was touched.

I had a picture, and a lot of other self defense weapons pictures too, but unfortunately, My hard drive just crashed 2 days ago..

I'll talk about the nunchaku later.

Self Defense, Training and Travelling.

My Prefered Self Defense Weapons!

Hi everyody. I didn't post to my blog since a while... I was living in Dubai, and I decided to move to Alexandrie, and stay there for a while.

I am a Martial Artist and a great traveller too. I am thinking that I should update my About me page. I will do that soon.

The reason I didn't post for so long is that I've left everything behind me.. in Dubai.

I am totally new to Alexandrie, and happily, I already know a lot of people here. It makes your life easier to find a flat...

The only draw back when you travel often is that you are obliged to leave your club.

I was training in Dubai in BJJ, Aikido Yoshinkan and Karate Seibukan (The original School of Shotaku Kyan).

If you are new to my self defense blog, you should know that my core art is Silat with Charles Joussot (France).

Here I don't know any teacher, I don't know what is going on with Martial Art. I only know that Egypt is reputed to have very strong Karatekas.

Before chosing to travel like I am doing, be sure that you have a strong experience in fighting, and years of training behind you, otherwise you will never get strong basis if you jump from one martial art style to another every three months.

It is really important to have strong basis, because you will be able to train alone. This is the power of Lankas (or langhas) (same as kata in okinawan karate).

You must also understand all the stretching exercise, along with push-ups, pull ups (Dips) and every exercise that do not require any equipment. Like that, you can stay fit even if you don't go to a club.

Jogging is also a must, and personaly, I like swimming and rope.

Feel free to comment on my tips to stay fit and keep up the training when you are travelling.

What is really good when you have a strong experience in Self Defense, is that you are able to go everywhere (almost everywhere... there are some places that you should never go except you want to die fast..) and be confident that you can handle any situation... or not handle it.

It's not because you are a muay Thai champion that you should think that you will never loose. Forget this, it is a myth.

P.S: My Book is already finished, as I told you in previous post, but I need to make some revisions... You can register here to be informed when it goes live and be informed first.

Women's Self Defense

Women's Self Defense and Myths..

I am an experienced fighter, street fighter, and when it comes to Self Defense, I really know what I am talking about. I spend my childhood between the street and school, and every day, I was waiting for an assault from some of my ennemies. When it comes to women's Self Defense, I am very serious.

Women's self defense is different than what men will do in a threatening situation..
You must know that the women are in a very bad situation when they are attacked, simply because men are stronger.

Women's Self Defense should be more axed on a great state of awareness and an ability to escape or seek help from a potentially dangerous situation.

Women should be careful, and know that more than 80% of the women's assault, rapre and ambushes comes from someone.. close to them! Women's Self Defense should focus on awareness and relationship: women should know what to do when they are isolated with someone, in the workplace...

Self Defense for Woman is very different, and women should be aware that they will not be able to resist in mowst of the cases, against a male stronger than them, and determined to do what he wants with her.

Women's Self Defense = Kick to the groin... Stop!

It's not that easy. It's easy to SAY, but not easy to DO on a real situation. My advice for women who are interested in Self Defense is to have a Good and powerful enough Pepper Spray! However, the pepper spray in itself will not do nothing. Women who are serious about protecting themselves should unserstand that they need some training.

You must know how to EFFECTIVELY use that pepper spray.

Another important point is Self Defense Class for Women. I see a lot of Women instructor... Ok, that's great but I don't see how they teach their student to protect themselves against a man!

My conclusion is that you must be careful. You have more attackers than you think... The first is the real attacker, who want to harm you, and the second.. All these so called instructors, who don't tell you the truth about Women's Self defense.

How many times I saw women in a self defense (or Martial Art Dojo) club, with a black belt, they think that they have a good level, and are confident that they will succeed against an attack in the street.

What? I spend all my childhood in the street, fighting, saving people's life, running to save my life. I know what's an ambush, believe me. BUT I will never be able to tell, if I will be victorious in the street tomorrow!

Just my thought on Women's Self Defense.

Bas Rutten Self Defense Video

BAS RUTTEN is also one of my teachers. I trained with him only... One time, but believe me, I learned a lot with him in that session.

His training method is a top notch hardcore 6 hours intensive workout a day! I then trained with Loic pora, his student in France, in the Kajyn Club at "La Bastille".

It is called The Bas Rutten Academy.

I trained with him in France, at Charles Joussot Famous Silat club.

Here is the Da Bang Bang Video.

It is the short version of a Bas Rutten self defence video. self defense video... comedy.

Enjoy Bas Rutten's Bas Rutten - Ba Da Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bas Rutten was 3-TIMES KING OF PANCRASE, MUAY THAI FIGHTER, UFC CHAMPION, and his carreer stopped because of his knee problem.

Doctors advised him to stop, otherwise he will have serious problems later. He did a fight last month, he is trying to come back.

Personaly, I think it's better to stop fighting as a pro for him.

During 6 years of non-competition, he was playing in movies, and did a lot self defense and other pancrase tapes in which he shows his knowledge and skills.

Bas Rutten was also a Taekwondo Champion!

Scotland: Blades and Swords Crimes

I didn't know that Scotland was a "samurai land", until I found this article on the selfdefense forum: Samurai Scotland

In 2005, 72 per people in Scotland died from stab wounds, against only 42 killed in 1998. You can see that in Scotland, the trend is for killing with swords, knifes...

Since 1998, 400 has been killed by blades.

The Government is determined to put an end at the "Sword Violence".

An Executive spokesman said: "We are determined to crack down on violence in Scotland - particularly the booze and blade culture which strikes fear into the heart of too many of our communities.

"Knives and sharp objects are the most common method of killing in this country, consistently accounting for around half of all murders each year."

From september, nobody under 18 will be allowed to buy a blade (until now, you could buy a sword or blade when you are 16.)

In some areas, they started to use metal detector gloves, to prevent the rising sword violence.
